Indiana is the 3rd most expensive state in the country for 15 minute calls! Illinois prisoners and their families pay just a tiny fraction of what we pay in Indiana, because they fought to get rates reduced. You can read about the struggle to get phone rates reduced in Illinois here.
In Michigan, prison phone rates were lowered after a boycott of the phones at the Alger Correctional Facility in 2018.
