We received this message from Aaron Isby-Israel, regarding discriminatory and unconstitutional treatment of Hebrew Israelites at Miami Correctional Facility. In addition to the issues Israel details below, every time the facility goes on lockdown (which is almost constantly), Israel is forced to request over and over again that his Kosher meal tray (access to which is his religious right) be delivered. According to policy and procedure, Israel should receive his meal tray at the same time each day, but guards constantly refuse to bring it to him until much later in the day, in a pattern which at this point has reached the level of intentional harassment.

Our Hebrew Israelite services, which we are supposed to have every week on Wednesday at 9am, was arbitrarily cancelled today (8/12/20). I was told the reason for this is the Christian Chaplain here, determined there weren’t enough attendants at our services. This is a blatant attempt to undermine our Constitutional rights to meet and worship! This is an outright lie that our members are not attending services. Many of our members are being intentionally housed in restrictive housing, as a move by the administration here, to impede their efforts to come to our Hebrew services. One of my Hebrew brothers Quentan Towels, could not and was out right denied his right to attend services last week, because his housing unit (KHU), was placed on three day restriction, because a few inmates in his dorm who was hungry, got an extra tray at the chowhall, so, Quentan had to pay for someone else’s wrong. Other members who work in those slave shops at PEN Industries, are also being denied the right to attend our services. Many of our Hebrew members want to be at services but cannot, due to these underhanded dirty tactics by this racist Christian Chaplain. Our Rabbi is also not being allowed to come into the prison, and this is undermining our services and ability to practice our religion. This needs to be exposed and the word must be spread, because this is outright unconstitutional!!! Aaron
