Phone Zap: Hunger Strike at Pendleton Correctional Facility

Prisoners at Pendleton Correctional Facility have begun to refuse meals, today April 30th. Their actions are in response to the failure of Pendleton to take action to safeguard the health and nutrition of prisoners during the pandemic.

Since April 15th, prisoners have only been receiving sack lunches, lacking the nutritional or caloric value to sustain a healthy immune system or even basic dietary needs. These often include peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, one fruit per/day, one small bag vegetable per/day and a small bag of cereal for breakfast. Additionally prisoners are not receiving cleaning supplies or sanitizers to combat the spread of the virus.
