Angaza Iman Bahar is on hunger strike at Miami Correctional Facility! He hasn’t eaten in over a week (as of 4/2), in protest of the conditions being imposed at MCF during the COVID-19 pandemic and the failure of IDOC to re-classify him in the appropriate security level, keeping him at a maximum security facility when he should have been moved to a lower level by now since his out date is in June.
Please call Warden Hyatte at MCF and IDOC Central Office, and email IDOC classification director Jack Hendrix, and ask them to meet with Angaza and meet his demands! Leave a message if you aren’t able to speak with anyone.

Sample script:
“Hello, I am [calling/emailing] to request that the warden of Miami Correctional Facility meet with Jimmy Jones #891782, who has been on hunger strike since March 26 due to the failure to change his classification and the conditions at MCF during this COVID-19 pandemic. He isn’t getting the appropriate medical care for someone on hunger strike. Please ensure his demands are met, including changing his classification so he can be transferred to a lower level facility!”
